Photo at right shows the air x air model ABVA in the foreground, and the air x spring ABVS in the background. The ABVS can be ordered as a completely assembled fail-safe actuator, or it can be ordered later as an "add-on" kit for an existing ABVA actuator. The basic actuator is the same; using the add-on kit creates an identical actuator to the factory assembled version. Another nice feature of the ABVS is that the spring and spring housing can be readily unscrewed and moved to the opposite side, changing the actuator from fail-safe/closed to fail-safe/open. In this photo, the position of the ABVS handle shows that this is a fail-safe/closed assembly.
Series ABVA and ABVS have direct override to the ball valveshaft. Series ABVS requires simple loosening of the springprior to manual override.
Actuator is constructed of corrosion resistant thermoplastics.Seals are Buna-N. For optional materials, please consult factory.
The ABVA and ABVS are designed for ½", ¾", and 1" True Blue Ball Valves. If you require an actuated ball valve in 1¼", 1½" or 2" sizes, please consult web page for Series ABRA.

A 3/4" ball valve in Geon® PVC with Viton® seals and BSP threaded connections will be used as an example. The part number, as shown below, would be ABVA075XVT-PV. If this used standard NPT threads, the X would be left out of the part number. If the valve is to be ordered with a "Fail-Safe" (spring return) actuator, change ABVA to ABVS in the part number prefix. All of the possible permutations are shown under the part number in the table below.

Ball Valves Index Page -- Overview and links to all ball valves, actuators, and accessories. Possibly the page you were on prior to this one.
Series MBV -- True BlueBall Valves -- Manual version of Plast-O-Matic's popular ball valveline; constructed with integral mounting lugs for easy addition of anactuator when needed. Features also include Trunnion design, reinforced shaft and PTFE thrust washer. 2-way and 3-waydesigns. Socket, threaded, flanged ends, NPT, BSP or Metric; customizingavailable.

The fine print: When you absolutely, positively need an actuated ball valve capable of long cycle life in the nastiest environment imaginable, Series ABVA is the product to specify. This actuator is used by virtually every lead/acid battery manufacturer in the Western Hemisphere. It is found in the gnarliest PC board fabs, electroplating shops, and other facilities with harsh atmospheric conditions. These actuators simply hold up where others won't. It is based on a simple but effective scotchyoke design and thermoplastic construction that has worked flawlessly in these applications since 1983.
