Series PRS Proportional Pneumatic Controller

Summary: The Stabilizer (U.S. Patent No. 6,418,956) is a closed-loop, dynamic pneumatic controller for use with air-loaded pressure control valves. This new device reacts instantly to variations in pressure and enhances regulator performance.

New York, NY— Plast-O-Matic Valves, Inc. has announced a new closed-loop, proportional pneumatic controller for use with air-loaded valves. Designed for processes that depend on precise pressure control, Series PRS maintains downstream pressure with virtually no deviation despite the large variations in flow rate, unlike ordinary regulators.

Pressure regulators provide protection for valuable downstream instruments and filtration systems by converting fluctuating or excessive inlet pressure to a preset maximum downstream pressure. The PRS, called the Stabilizer (Patent Pending) is designed for use with a pressure regulator to maintain downstream pressure from 5 to 125 PSI with greater precision.

THE PRS features a Teflon diaphragm in a thermoplastic connection, with no wetted metals or elastomers, specifically for use with ultra-pure deionized water systems or highly corrosive chemicals. It is simply installed in the piping system at the desired point of control., and in the desired pressure. Whenever pressure at the diaphragm exceeds the set point, the Stabilizer reduces control preserve to the regulator., which in turn begins to close and reduce process pressure; control pressure is increased if process pressure falls below the set point. Overall performance is comparable to that achieved with complex electronic control valves but is accomplished more simply and at a lower cost.

Series PRS is available in a number of rugged thermoplastics, including Grade 1 Type 1 PVC, Natural Polypropylene, Kynar PVDF and Teflon. Standard piping connection is ½” NPTF. Custom configurations are also available.
