PRD Differential Pressure Regulators

Series PRD for maintaining pressure settings across a filter bank or similar equipment

Pressure Regulator Basics:

Plastic pressure regulators are multi-functional, normally-open valves for controlling downstream pressure, enhancing system performance, and balancing pressure in a process system. They are used to reduce excessive or fluctuating inlet pressures to a safe, predetermined downstream pressure.

Differential Pressure Regulators balance inlet and outlet pressure across a series of filters or other sensitive components.

Design & Features of Series PRD:

Series PRD

Series PRD is a differential pressure regulator based on Series PR with two threaded ports. One port is for a downstream pressure sensing line, the other is fitted with a bleed screw to exhaust air from the housing. Otherwise, design is identical to Series PR. The sensing line feeds the pressure downstream (P3) of the equipment being protected to the top of the spring housing (also P3). This pressure assists the spring in keeping the regulator open against the pressure directly at the regulator outlet (P2). When pressure downstream begins to drop (as it would when a filter becomes more and more clogged), the regulator begins to close and becomes fully closed when the differential setting is reached. This assures against overpressure across the bank of filters or whatever the equipment may be. The differential pressure setting is P2 minus P3.

• Pressure setting is infinitely adjustable from 5 psi to 50 psi.
• Maximum inlet pressure is 150 psi.
• Available in Grade 1, Type 1 Geon® PVC
• Sizes 1/4″, 1/2″, 3/4″, 1″, 1-1/2″, 2″ & 3″.
• Installs easily; common tubing is used to connect to desired point downstream.
• Spring is fluoropolymer coated since downstream liquid is in contact.
• Seals in EPDM or Viton.
• High performance, heavy-duty design.

Backpressure Regulators
If you are looking to regulate backpressure, or pressure “upstream” of the valve, you need a backpressure regulator instead of a pressure regulator.

Flow Control Valves If you are really trying to control your flow rate, as opposed to pressure, Plast-O-Matic provides a highly effective constant flow rate valve.

Series PRA Air-Loaded Pressure Regulator
If you need a pressure regulator with a little more versatility, Series PRA is the best place to start. It uses common compressed air in place of a spring. An optional device, the Series PRS Stabilizer, can be used to provide zero drop-off performance. In addition, Series PRA can be used with an appropriate sensor and E:P controller to regulate many other system parameters, including temperature, flow rate, pH, and more.
